One of the charities we are proud to support is Spotlight UK, a Hampshire-based organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people, and families facing adversity.

Spotlight UK (1129258)

Founded in April 2009, Spotlight UK's mission is to advance the lives of children, young people, and adults by providing recreational, emotional, and practical support.

They reach hundreds of children and families across Hampshire and beyond benefit from their services every year. Over time, their vision expanded to include emotional support, practical help, and free activities for children affected by illness, trauma, or disadvantage.

Scarlett's Smiles Initiative

In 2024, Spotlight UK launched Scarlett’s Smiles, a dedicated programme supporting:
- Children with a parent or sibling facing terminal or long-term illness
- Children living with illness or disability themselves
- Young carers and adult carers
- Children in care or affected by domestic abuse, loss, or separation

Through Scarlett’s Smiles, Spotlight UK provides:
- Free activities (bowling, laser tag, paddleboarding, trampolining) to create positive memories
- Care packages with gifts and supplies for families in need
- Special experiences for children struggling with disability or illness
- Christmas appeals including toy drives, hampers, and stockings for the elderly
- Emergency supplies such as clothes, beds, and essentials for families escaping domestic abuse

Age Concern

Founded in the mid-20th century, Age Concern’s mission is to support and empower older people by providing practical help, emotional support, and campaigning for fair treatment. Their work ensures that those over 50 are not left behind, but instead have access to services, companionship, and opportunities to live fulfilling lives. Across the UK, Age Concern reaches thousands of older people every year. Their services range from friendship calls and social activities to benefits advice, care support, and emergency assistance. Many local Age Concern groups also run charity shops and community hubs, helping to fund vital services while creating welcoming spaces for older people.

Key Initiatives

Age Concern supports older people through a wide range of programmes, including:

Telephone Friendship Services – weekly calls to reduce loneliness and provide companionship.
Practical Support – help with benefits, pensions, and navigating care systems.
Community Activities – coffee mornings, exercise classes, and social clubs to keep people active and connected.
Winter Appeals – providing warm clothing, food parcels, and fuel support during the colder months.
Campaigning – challenging age discrimination and influencing government policy to protect older people’s rights.
